Batatya phodi

Ingredients Required:

  • 2 potatoes – sliced horizontally(slightly thicker than potato wafers)
  • 1-2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp Rava (finer variety) : chiroti rava would be preferred.
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for Frying

Preparing Method:


1. Mix red cilli powder, salt and water and make a paste with little bit think consistency and roll all the cut potato pieces in the paste so that the potatoes are fully covered with the paste.

2. Heat tawa on gas.

3. Roll the potato slices one by one in Rava and place on the hot tawa.

4. Sprinkle some oil and cover with lid. After few minutes once the potatoes are cooked on one side turn the slices to cook the other side. Sprinkle some oil and water. Cover with lid.

5. Shallow frying needs patience and has to be done on low flame. If the flame is high, the outer side will get charred and the inside will remain uncooked. Keep low flame and cook till the potato are soft and cooked.

6. Serve hot with daali toy rice!!
