Patrode | Konkani Recipe

Ingredients:

- Colocasia leaves 5
Grated coconut- 1 cup
Dry chillies (byadgi) -8-10 numbers
Urad daal- 1 tbl spoon
Hing- big size
coriander seeds 1 table spoon
Toor daal - 1/2 cup soaked for 2 hours
Tamarind - small lemon size
Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon
salt to taste
coconut oil 1 table spoon
Jaggery - 1 tbl spoon

Preparation:

* Wash and dry colocasia leaves and keep aside.
* Heat 1/2 table spoon oil and roast urad daal, hing and coriander seeds.
* In a mixi jaar add grated coconut, dry chillies, turmeric powder, fried items, jaggery,tamarind and salt.
* Grind into coarse masala by adding little water.
* Keep one leaf dark side facing down on a flat surface.
* Apply some prepared masala, thoroughly on the leaf.
* Like wise keep one by one remaining leaves and apply the masala on each one of them.
* Next, fold the leaves from sides and roll it from the bottom.
* Cut into pieces with a sharp knife.
* Place all the pieces in a plate and cook in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles.
* when the pressure is released from cooker take out these pieces.
* Coate all of them in rava and shallow fry with coconut oil.

Special Tips:

Cook the leaves properly to avoid itching and irritation in the throat.
