Ravalnath Upasana
1. Every day morning and evening, recite Dhyana Sloka.
2. Kuladevak Paan Vadche: On good occasions like New Year (Samsar Paduva) there is special way of worship. On a wooden plank (Manai) new clothes and gold jewel, kum-kum, kajal, bettle leaf + bettle nuts (panna vido) are kept. With a lamp nearby, the archana is made with Akshatha (wet rice covered with haladi and kumkum), flowers, tulasi etc. On a green planten leaf (keli paan) all the food prepared is served (put). After offering it , as a Naivedia, Mangalaarathi is shown. The prayer and magni (what wishes are sought) are made. Kuladevatha food offering essentially requires – Fried items (ghaari, karathe podi, kelyan podi, phagil, mhashinga saange podi etc any 4 items). Sweet – Madgane (jaggery make) + Odo or Rice dood pak.
This programme is also held on the occasion of marriages where the new sarees + ornamens for bride are kept and worshiped as above.(Kappad Vadchen). Kanike is also offered.
3. Kaul Prasad: Every Kuladevatha at the end of Dasara Festival gives Kaul Prasad which is known as Kulavi”s Prasad. (A coconut + Panna vido) – makes the Kaul Prasad. This is also known as Darshan (trans) Prasad . During this time you can place your problems, desires, decisions to be taken etc before the Darshan. You will get direction as how you should move. It also says whether a job will be done or not. Sometimes, it shows your draw backs and how to set right the same. After this, coconut + panna vido is brought home and kept on a plate (poler) in Deva kud (place of worship) so that daily we can recite the Dhyan sloka infront of it. On every Poornami day (full moon day), the coconut is changed and again Kanike is offered.
4. At times of difficulties: Take a panna vido and place near the Kuladevatha coconut plate. Light the lamp. Recite the Dhyan Sloke. Tell your difficulty infront of the coconut and surrender yourself (Deva tunchi makka raak). Now the problem is handed over to the Kuladevatha. Then forget about the result. Whatever the result favourable or unfavourable, God has decided in that way for you. Man expects many things to happen in his favour, even against the natural happenings. Kuladevatha knows how to resolve your problem. That is the faith.
5. Kuladevak Appoche ( Arrival of your Kuladevatha to your house): In the olden days, Kulavis were not in a position to reach Kuladevatha place due to transportation problems, corssing the ferries, no money to make a pilgrimage (yatra). Hence, one Darshana Patri & Kuladevatha Archak (bhat) moves to the places where Kulavis are residing.
The Kuladevatha archak (Bhat) carries some proof like Kuladevatha silver face plate, small aayudha, Kalasha, Poleru + saligram etc as an identification. Keep these worshipable things in the worship place (deva kud) and conducts pooja twice a day as usual in Kulavis house. The head of the family invites all Kulavis around that place, friends, relatives etc .One day is fixed to celebrate the Kuladevatha Seva or also known as “Kuladeval Divasu”. The Kula Purohit (local bhat) is called. After-noon puja is conducted by Kuladevatha bhat and Kula Purohit bhat together. Up to Dhoop (lighting the perfume sticks or lobhan is showed, the pooja continues. The pathri person is taken near to the well and one of the family member will draw water in pot and gives it to him. He takes bath and comes to home from the front door. The yajman (head of the family) brings clothes (patte todopu + white towel to dry the body). The Yajman brings the pathri by holding his right hand and enters the Deva Kud or outside Deva kud. The food is served on the plantan leaf kept in front of the devakud/deity. The food items are first offered to deity in the form of Naivedya before serving on the leaf. The Kuladevatha bhat and Kula purohit stand with panna vido & akshath; They pray for the Kuladevatha to trans on Pathri to give prasad through Darshan. All invities, yajman, his family members etc offer akshatha to the deity. Wind pipe (Vajjap), Jagant, shank etc are started the akshatha is put on deity. The mangalarathi is showed to the deity. The pathri gets into trans and starts speaking. All bhats (performers of puja), yajman and others stand in Q and one by one comes forward, tell his wishes to the Pathri. Pathri gives direction and pool-prasad. After completion of this process, again the Shank, Jagant and Vajap are performed. The spirit liberates from pathri”s body. After this, all will have Brahman santarpan.
Now this system is not there in practice. It is difficult to conduct such programmes at home. Encestral old houses have all facilities and amenities. In the present form of houses, it is not possible.
6. Instant Problems: You are not in the house and you are in some place. You have faced some problem which worries you deeply. Recite the dhyana sloka and call your Kuladevatha in mind. Tell your problem and ask for help. Your Kuladevatha is always behind you and he will come to your help miraculously. How? One must know by his own experience. This is how the faith on Kuladevatha implroves. Desperate situation, a conflict between life and death is common in anyone’s life. He should remember his Kuladevatha.
Every Kuladevatha has one Ravalnath or his associate. He will come to your rescue. This is the absolute truth one must know.
Devaki Krishna Ravalnath’s Kulavi must know
1. Ravalnath’s Day – Tuesday - Good day to start any activity.
2. Ravalnath’s Prasad Day – Poornima
3. The seva that Ravalnath is pleased – Anna Santharpan (brahman bhojan)
